Has Sen. Durbin announced his retirement yet?
This picture shows a typical, fair-minded response to intelligent questions.
You can't talk like this against the regime without expecting reprisal.
Though our state government is corrupt, virtually from top to bottom, we've been fortunate to have two Senator's who speak their mind.
I know I just linked to the Huffington Post last week, but you really should read this.
I'm not that impressed with Obama, sorry. I didn't watch him on the Daily Show last night, though. Was he good?
Otherwise, I haven't seen him be nearly as vocal as Durbin. He didn't, for example, oppose Kindasleazy Rice.

Dogs and clichéd politicians bark like assholes; I think Obama is a breath of fresh air, the likes of which I haven't seen in politics in my "adult" life. Smart and reasonable. As a jr senator, I think he is better served using his energies elsewhere than badmouthing other politicians - there are plenty doing that already. And yes, he even made sure to get a couple laughs on the Daily Show, for whatever that's worth.

Harpy, you're right. Being a junior senator, he might be laying low until he gets a power base.
He doesn't have to badmouth other politicians, but I would like to see him oppose more destructive legislation.
Also, Durbin (well, okay, a staffer, but still) answers mail. Obama didn't respond to the letter I sent him.
