Frog eat frog

Flipper got a new frog last week, to go along with the Cuban Tree Frog he already had. This one was about the size of a nickel. The guy at the pet store said that the larger frog wouldn't bother the smaller one. The larger frog, though, begged to differ. He looked at the smaller frog and thought "Fun-sized".

Flipper was sad and angry. I sympathized. I had hamsters when I was his age. The hamsters had a litter. I made the mistake of handling the babies. I didn't know that that was ill-advised. The mother ate the babies. She died as a result. I threw her corpse in the lake and tossed rocks at it.

Flipper is over his anger. But not by much.

Flipper's younger brother, henceforth referred to as Chili, has been asking for a per of his own. Though he's not nearly as persistent (or needy) as his brother. I took his casual approach to mean that this wasn't something that he felt strongly about, until he gave me a copy of his "Persuasive Essay" from school (he's in the third grade).

Ouch. He gets lost in the shuffle sometimes. Middle kid. And it's clear that he feels it. He loves his brother, and I don't think he's jealous. He just hurts for that kind of attention. We'll read up on the fire-bellied newts. We already have birds, fish and frogs. Looks like we're headed for a newt, too.

I think my heart just melted.

11:37 PM

I don't know what fire-bellied newts are, but they sound delicious!

Chili's wish is my command: expect to take delivery of a squirming crate by week's end.

11:47 PM

fire bellied newts are the coolest.

and while my heart remains intact (unlike tits') i fear my ovaries have been driven to warp speed.

1:54 AM

oh my goodness that is freakin adorable.

melt my heart is right

Chili is so much fun! No one plays SpiderMan like he does.

Are you going to come over to play soon? We have slimy things in our pond, if that's an incentive.

My monitor screen keeps fading to blue; is that bad?

8:14 AM

A couple things. No one has ever seen me play Spider-Man, so don't rush the judgement on that. Chili is the most awesome name ever, even if it is only a nom de guerre. What the hell is a golden pacman frog?

10:03 AM

I've seen Nick play Spider-Man. It wasn't pretty.

I regret to say I can't get the image to pop up. I'm sure it was extra special.

Damn it, Sysm. Neither link works.

2:08 PM

You're right. I'm an idiot. Fixed now. Behold the glory of Spider-Man.

2:59 PM

You can really see his web sac in that one.

9:15 PM

I'm...speechless.

I think I have to go take a shower now.

8:42 PM

I've been slandered or libeled or something.
