Smoking grass

Lawn care weekend. The neighbors rented an aerator - one of those big, walk behind tractor things that takes goose-crap-sized plugs of dirt out of the ground. Better for grass seed and watering to take hold.

I mowed the yard first, bagging the clippings (I usually leave them on the yard). I left the mower out for a few hours before emptying out the bag. The grass inside was hot to the touch. Hotter and wetter towards the center.
Note: the prior sentence will be quoted out-of-context by Nick within a half hour.
The grass was actually smoking.

Hot compost action. Exothermic. Mesothermic, to be precise. If you go to that link, there is a section on composting systems. I don't know which one sounds more disturbing: "German Mound" or "Humanure". You make the call.

Freaky.

Ba-Boom!

More disturbing: "Humanure."

I proved you wrong! Besides I think "German Mound" is actually funnier.
