I like L.A.
When I was 15-years-old, the highlight of my life was seeing Cheap Trick at Chicago's International Amphitheater. Really. In the late 70', they were the shit. I learned to play guitar because I so loved the first few Cheap Trick albums. A Hamer guitar with a checkerboard strap. Right up until "Dream Police", which sucked. And thereafter they made a artistic swan dive that, in my mind, has been almost unparalleled.
Reverend Jack, Doctor Sardonic, and a number of our friends saw the Upper Crust last Friday. This is the first time they've been in Chicago in at least 5 years, and the first opportunity for any of us to see them. I felt the same level of excitement as I did when I was 15 at the International Amphitheater. May they never cover "Dream Police."
On Sunday, I flew out to Los Angeles. I'm staying at a hotel in Hollywood, right next to the Grauman's Chinese Theater. We opted to go to a movie instead of out to diner. "The Departed." I was pleasantly surprised. I was a big fan of the Hong Kong version, "Infernal Affairs", and not so much a fan of Scorcese. He did right by it. My Hollywood brush with mediocrity for the evening: Tom Arnold was sitting by me. I don't know that I could've picked a more mediocre celebrity.
I hung out with people from Playboy and General Mills on Moday. I wonder what kind of cross-promotion they're cooking up. For dinner, we went to the fabulous A.O.C. for tapas. Great-tastic. Monday's brush with non-mediocrity: Jodie Foster was at the next table. She looks lovely.
One more night in Hollywood. At the ever improving quality of my celebrity sightings is going, I wonder who I might spot tonight?

The Upper Crust show was without equal! Although, I would like to point out that Dr. Sardonic did NOT attend, damn his oily hide straight to Hades.

There. Thats better.
I'm back (for now).

Hello Reverend.
You are correct. I meant to say that incorrigible scoundrel, Mr. Importantness, was with us.
Doctor Sardonic claimed that his mind was so totally fucking blown by the season premier of "Battlestar Galactica" that he could not stand to rock. Or roll.
My apologies to the most important mister.
2:55 PM
I've just seen the only celebrity I need to right here: Rev. Jack.
I miss him so much my heart may burst.
3:40 PM
Glad to be back. Took me a while to figure out my password, though.
'cause I'm stoopid.
xoox Rev. Jack
p.s. I have a laptop now so perhaps I can waste time blogg-o-fying at home.

I stayed at a hotel near Grauman's Chinese Theater when I visited Los Angeles. Hollywood was the only part of L.A. I really liked.
I think some young guys of "importance" were at Lucky Strike when we were there, but not being a twelve-year-old girl I had no idea who there were.
4:13 PM
sounds like you had a great time... Jodie Foster is a pretty damn lucky celeb sighting, all i got when I was there was Robin Williams, but that poor man couldn't disguise himself if he tried.
4:22 PM
If it's Kobe, kick him in the balls. I'll chip in on your legal fees.
4:33 PM
you'll spot me! the most importantest celeb in los angeles, of course.
6:48 PM
Nick - Tiger Woods hit a golf ball up the stairs of the hotel today. Some p.r. stunt for the new version of his video game.
I didn't watch him. I have a low tolerance for 24-year-old p.r. staffers with delusions of grandeur and wireless mics.
This place is freaky.
6:48 PM
Kendra - stay tuned for the ceremonial "Passing of the Nimoy."
6:59 PM
The Reverend Jack has been refrocked. Please make his acquaintance.
2:11 PM
I love when a movie shoots in Chicago, and the clipboard people expect the same level of reverence and awe they receive in L.A.
One tried to prevent me from walking through Union Station on my way to work and was shocked when I didn't obey his commands.
5:52 PM
But Ubie, he had a clipboard.

RE: your swipe at Cheap Trick - Have you tried them lately? A little dreck, for sure, but their CT97 CD and the latest one, Rockford, (you know, that city about 70 miles west of where you used to live) are astoundingly good. Try them again.
