Dreams with Sharp Teeth

Harlan Ellison is a tenacious motherfucker. My dad was always a reader of sci-fi speculative fiction. Me? Not so much. I read the classics (Huxley and Heinlein). Asimov never did much for me. Neither did Frank Herbert. Ray Bradbury? Sturdy. Workman-like. But he never really fired up my imagination. Ellison did (and does). He's short. And short-tempered. Angry. And quick to shout, "Bullshit!" He's written very few long-form pieces. And the reasons are obvious. He doesn't have the patience. He wants to tell his story and move on. If he hadn't pissed off almost anyone he'd ever worked with, he'd be much more renowned. Much more beloved. But, if anything, he's aged into even a more cantankerous, bitter old bastard than he ever was in his youth. Love the guy. In print. I'd probably think him a bastard if I knew him personally.

A documentary on Ellison, "Dreams with Sharp Teeth" will be out. Eventually.

Still waiting for the one on the fabulous CNR.

6:26 AM

Dream Corridor Vol. 2 just came out at the end of last month.

My sister loves Ellison and has related many humorous tales to me, but that's about as into him as I have gotten.

7:21 AM

I used to read books, until I read this speculative fiction about the future where you can get a chip installed and it transfers the book directly into your brain and you don't have to actually read it. I'm waiting for that.

10:20 AM

Ellison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Ellison, my aim is true.
My aim is true.
