No snark.

Please read this.

Two of the seven authors of this piece were killed yesterday. Another was shot in the head before it was printed last month. Now, I don't mean to suggest in any way that there is anything suspect about the death of these soldiers. I just find it a tragedy.

The best show on TV, ("The Wire". Duh.) Did a piece on "juking the stats."
"Making robberies into larcenies. Making rapes disappear. You juke the stats and majors become colonels."

Al Sadr's militia are now counted as our allies instead of our opponents. If we're constantly redefining what "success" means, than we can continually justify continued tragedy as progress.

Ethnic cleansing is the polite way of saying religion-based pogrom. My dear friend Flounder will come after me for saying this, but I think a secular Iraq was much less a threat to its neighbors, and to us, than an Iraq ripped apart by religious zealotry.

8:29 PM

Oh. Im totally not a conspiracy theorist, but when things like this happen I swear I move from the middle ground just a little closer to the fringe.

10:28 PM

What I fail to understand is how these words have not moved beyond the newspaper and into the hands of our beloved captain.

Jesus Christ, someone give me a kleenex. I keep crying over this shit; I'm wondering when it will wear off.

8:33 AM

I am a consipiracy theorist, and when things like this happen, I am reminded why.

8:59 AM

I'm a Pepper!

9:14 AM

Sadly, this gets no major news coverage due to the overwhelming interest in the weight gain of America's favorite Pop-Tart. Get your handbaskets ready now, we are a society headed for hell.

12:34 PM

To be fair Br..Hip, Pop Tarts are awesome.

Or were you saying tart as in saucy wench who sings pop music?

3:27 PM

Thank you for posting about this. It's so completely fucking sad and enraging, and the fact that now Bush is planning to cut troops after the miserable failure of his surge and the loss of so much more innocent life is just rubbing salt in the wound. Those soldiers never should have been there in the first place.

Also, for the record, both kinds of pop tarts are awesome.

Oh, and also, did you catch this article on the last episode of The Wire? ::sigh::
