Ikea wishes you Gutvik
I've been too tired to post. Sorry.
The elder Sysmidget has been asking for his own room. I think it has something to do with him getting both a little more curious about his body, and a little more aware of personal space. We decided not to give him his own room, but we'd give him and the other boys beds with canopies. Where to go? Ikea of course, where we bought four identical loft-type beds.
The ones we got are called the Kura. I assembled four of these things in the last day and a half, after dismantling the current bedroom furniture. Four hundred and some-odd pounds. But they're all happy with their new rooms. And they can have their hands in their pajamas with more discretion. Everybody wins.
interestingly, Ikea has had similar thoughts, as shown by the Gutvik, the name chosen for one of their other bunk beds.
did the sysmidget's get to play in the ballroom? that was always my favorite part, that and pretending the rooms on the display floor were mine...

Oh BALLROOM! Room full of little plastic balls.
I thought that you were referring to 'Playing in the Ballroom', if you catch my drift.

Gutvik? Most Germans actually prefer Schlechtfick. Read The Tin Drum for more background info.
Also, kudos on the fine fathering, what with the "pitching of tents" and all. Pehaps you can leave a lot of "handy wipes" around.

I thought we were talking about furniture?

You have my sympathy. While the IKEA stuff is cheap, when you figure out the cost of your labor it works out to like $73,485.67 (per bed)

Most older bunk beds are made of wood, and are generally easier to make safety modifications and enhancements. Also, the price of wooden bunk beds may be more economical, especially if you are shopping at second hand stores or using a bed previously used by a friend or family member.
