EFF: Electronic Football Forever

Fan Fiction on retroCrush

One of the advantages of having an Electrical Engineer for a father is having almost any Halloween costume within reach. A few years back, my Dad and I hacked into an old Mattel Electronic Football game. We built a replica that was 15" wide and 24" deep, that I wore strapped to my chest. Fully functional. Big-ass LCD screen. Big built-in speaker. All wired to the original chip. He did all of the work. I'm okay with basic electrician work, but I can't be trusted near a circuit board.

Ah yes young Skywalker!
I remember that well!
Mongo still raves about that one
to this very day.

4:25 PM

Do you still have the costume? Can I borrow it? I miss that game.

8:16 AM

I too remember that costume. It put my "guy from Wisconsin" costume to shame.

1:24 PM

That has got to be the coolest costume ever! I love the mattel football, but I could never understand why Supertramp used the "first down" sound effect in "The Logical Song".

7:35 AM

What IS that?
