Eye-Eye, Doctor

Flipper, Chili and I went to the eye doctor for a check-up. Flipper needed new frames and a tweaked prescription. Chili checked out okay. And I begged for glasses. Begged, I tell you. My close-reading vision is starting to get mighty blurry for small type. If I hold the stuff farther away from me, it's sharper. But it gets smaller, too.

I've been asking for a while, but I've always passed the vision tests. I test well. I think I could guess the letterforms better than others. This time, I deliberately threw in some wrong answers. That did the trick.

The Doctor, sensing my excitement, cheered me on. We did a celebratory cheer, the requisite high-fives, and a little cuddling. Chili felt left out. So we told him that he was being prescribed 3-D glasses. The Doc and I both did the quick leaning in and out thing at him.

So now I can see quite a bit better. Except I still don't have, and will never have, depth perception. Or depth, but that's a different topic, altogether. (response: "But that's a different topic." But I still love optical illusions. Here are a few current faves:

5:03 PM

I'd accuse you of making that up, but after you told my three year old that Zombies never sleep, I'd wager that you two did convince him of 3-D glasses.

5:10 PM

Dilf - call him up.

He's been asking for the glasses ever since. I'm thinking of getting him some for his b-day.

5:30 PM

you should get him xray glasses then get everyone to walk around naked.

that'll teach him to be so cute.

6:05 PM

I have no depth perception either. We should play softball together sometime.

10:38 PM

Ooh! I love optical illusions, too!

And hooray for glasses!

12:07 AM

I spent the night making 3D pictures of Chili. And I'm going to go load up on 3D glasses tomorrow at Chicago's fabulous Uncle Fun.

I love getting on stupid tangents.

9:48 AM

Uncle Fun and Hot Doug on the same day
That's the kind of day songs are written about.

11:10 AM

Outside of Chicago, most people would be wary of someone called "Uncle Fun."

12:19 PM

Both "Uncle Fun" and "Hot Dog" sound like screen names for members of the Chicago archdiocese.

12:54 PM

That castle one is awesome.

5:17 PM

You know what’s awesome? The Cognac-Infused Smoked Pheasant Sausage with Truffle Sauce Moutarde and Foie Gras "Butter" that I had for lunch at Hot Dougs.

12:36 AM

You didn't have the Veggie Corn Dog?

Me? I would have gone with the Frankenwurst.
