Wire from Barcelona

Two things that have made be exceptionally happy today.

The video for "We're From Barcelona" by I'm From Barcelona:



And the DVD set from the 3rd season of "The Wire".



"The Wire" is scary good. The best thing I've ever seen on TV. Oh, wait, it's HBO. The first season was pretty great. The second dipped down to good. But the third - holy shit, was it great. On the surface, it's a cops and crooks series, but it goes so much deeper than that. Deeper into office politics. Into believable moral and ethical gray areas. "The Sopranos" pales in comparison.

And the new season starts in a month. w00t.

Okay, The Wire is the best television show ever ever ever and I am giddy like a schoolgirl in anticipation of season four. Hubby and I have gone back and started watching the entire series again as preparation for the premiere.

Seriously, season three? OH MY FUCKING GOD.

I have to go calm down now.

Tits - I know.

I try to turn people on to the show, and they're always, "Yeah, right. Cop show. Nah."

And I try to say, "No. It is the best piece of television ever made. Ever!"

Unfortunately, my excitement makes my lazy eye drift off, and I look like I'm trying to convince them about crop circles or something.

Last season was better than any movie I've seen in the last ten years. Pitch fucking perfect.

I am proud to say that I've managed to convince six non-HBO-subscribing friends to rent the DVDs and every single one of them became converts.

Because there has never, ever been a better television program in the history of television. Ever.
